In spring of 2003, Hands of Hope hosted a benefit luncheon for the First Lady of Uganda, Mrs. Janet K. Museveni. Over 600 people attended this luncheon, emceed by Chicago’s radio host Felicia Middlebrooks, where Mrs. Museveni was able to share her remarkable progress in mobilizing over 20,000 Ugandan women to address the needs of orphans and containing the spread of HIV/AIDS in her country.
